No Wax Floor Cleaners
Most pre-finished and custom finished wood floors sold today are surface coated floors. They have a hard top coating which makes them wear longer. The old rule for years was to clean with vinegar and water. However, this has been proven to soften some finishes. The recommendation is to use a cleaner made for the particular brand of pre-finished wood floor. Each box of pre-finished flooring should have a care sheet. This will tell you how to maintain your floor. Sometimes the instructions say to use a cleaner made for wood floors. This may be a bit too simple. There are some cleaners in the supermarket and hardware stores that say they are for wood floors. However, they should not be used on a no-wax floor. If they contain any acrylic, petroleum, or oils, they will dull the finish on your floors. Be safe and purchase a cleaner that has been recommended by a wood floor professional.
